Pierre Paulin for Baker Furniture Bird’s-Eye Maple and Walnut Inlay Art Deco Conference or Dining Table, Newly Restored
An extremely rare and exceptional Art Deco conference or dining table designed in 1984 by Pierre Paulin for Baker Furniture. The table features gorgeous bird’s-eye maple wood grain with walnut inlays in the signature motif for the Paulin Collection. The legs display a clean edge of stepped mitres. Made with the highest quality craftsmanship, as expected from Baker. Wood grain is exquisite. The table has been refinished and is in excellent condition.
In the mid-1980s, Baker retained Pierre Paulin to design a singular collection of furniture. Paulin stated he took inspiration from the interiors of the Elysee Palace that he had completed for Georges Pompidou and François Mitterand. The resulting venture proved costly, and only a rarefied few of the Paulin pieces were created.
