More about this chair:
Truly timeless, Professor Richard Reimerschmid’s Dresden armchair remains as crisp and current today as it was in 1899, when it was designed for the 1899 Dresden Exposition. It’s easy to understand why Edward Wormley held it in such deep appreciation that in the late 1940s he sought out Reimerschmid in Munich–with the help of MoMA’s Greta Daniel–to obtain Reimerschid’s approval of a Wormley detailed drawing and a license to have Dunbar produce Wormley’s very slightly modified adaptation for production. Reimerschmid responded to Wormley’s adaptation complimenting him “…on improving the look and comfort” of the chair. The Dunbar edition “varies only slightly in dimension or contour but with a visible change in the construction of the arm.” The Dunbar edition is the only licensed and approved version of Reimerschmid’s prescient vision of timeless modern still viable after more than a dozen decades since its introduction. Available from Dunbar in either mahogany or walnut, this version is walnut with a slip in black leather seat.
