Offering an exceptional and truly one-of-a-kind 19th Century Victorian carved mahogany railroad desk. The desk came from a Chicago railway station and was made by Tillman Silsbee & Co. of Detroit, MI, circa 1850. It features gorgeous flame mahogany wood grain and solid wood construction. The desk offers ample storage, with twelve dovetailed drawers, each with original carved mahogany pulls. A drop-down drawer front reveals four additional small drawers with birdseye maple fronts and a black leather writing surface. The desk has a unique locking mechanism, with certain drawers only unlocking when the desk is opened. It is finished on all sides and could be used in the center of a room. The desk has been expertly refinished and is in outstanding condition. An excellent piece of Americana and American railroad history.
